CEO Update – September 2023

22 Sep 2023

Bujari Gamarruwa,

ICC Sydney continues to make meaningful contributions to our community and industry through the events we host. Detailed within our Annual Performance Review for FY2022/23, we shared how our venue delivered significant financial impact to the local economy with a delegate spend of A$600 million. While this result was crucially important, it was balanced with our great social impacts that we are incredibly proud of. To dive deeper into these achievements, I invite you to read my update and explore our comprehensive report, which details ICC Sydney’s extraordinary journey last year.

One of our recent rewarding initiatives was our collaboration with one of our valued Legacy Program partners. Here, we nurtured the great emerging talent of graduating performers from the Talent Development Project for their annual concert held at ICC Sydney’s Pyrmont Theatre. Our Audio Visual experts took great care and pride in orchestrating a world class experience for the students and inspiring them with the opportunity to perform on a global platform. The exceptional young stars of the Talent Development Project are available to enhance your next event and can be contacted through ICC Sydney’s Legacy Program. Read the case study detailing the event delivery.

Sustainability remains a central focus of our operations, and our case study on the Fully Charged LIVE Australia 2023 exhibition is a testament to our commitment to present future-focused events while minimising environmental impact. We joined forces with one of the world’s leading electric vehicle and clean energy event organisers to celebrate sustainability and innovation. In line with ICC Sydney’s commitment to deliver Net Zero Carbon Events by 2050, the collaboration underscored our dedication to creating a greener, more sustainable future for all. Read the case study now.

In an Australian convention centre first, it is with much pride that I share that ICC Sydney has been awarded Bronze Tier status for our Foundation Submission in Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), for the first time since opening in 2016. Underpinned by our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, this latest accreditation is welcome recognition of our commitment to ensuring ICC Sydney is an inclusive and welcoming workplace – for our people, our clients and our patrons.

Furthermore, we continue to offer event organisers avenues to celebrate and acknowledge the culture and customs of Australia’s First Nations Peoples through our diverse suppliers. We believe in the power of cultural diversity and strive to incorporate these rich traditions into the fabric of our events and operations.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences and making a positive impact in our community. We look forward to continued collaboration with all of you to achieve even greater heights in the future.

Thank you for your ongoing support and trust in ICC Sydney.

Warm regards,

Geoff Donaghy
