ICC Sydney appoints Jack Weatherby-Fell as Venue Manager of The Cutaway

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by Legends Global, has announced the appointment of Jack Weatherby-Fell as Venue Manager, The Cutaway. Jack brings more than a decade of experience across Australia’s leading convention, exhibition and entertainment venues.

Widely recognised for his calm leadership, analytical thinking and exceptional event delivery, Jack Weatherby-Fell will manage The Cutaway following his most recent role as Head of Events at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, where he led the planning of largescale event operations and delivered high profile exhibitions, conferences and corporate events. His earlier tenure at ICC Sydney saw him delivering hundreds of major events including SXSW Sydney, Intel Extreme Masters, AWS Summit, Sydney International Boat Show, Fine Food Australia, Home Show, Mind Body Spirit Festival, Salesforce World Tour, Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition, FDI World Dental Congress and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Convention.

Jack will oversee day-to-day operations and client experience at The Cutaway, working closely with partners, community and the ICC Sydney team to deliver events. Supported by ICC Sydney’s General Manager – Operations, Lynell Peck, and recently appointed AV Manager, The Cutaway, Ricky Joseph, he will play a key role in realising the venue’s potential as one of Sydney’s most distinctive cultural and event spaces.

About The Cutaway

Located beneath the green expanse of Barangaroo Reserve, The Cutaway offers 5,000m² of event space across two mezzanine levels, accommodating approximately 2,000 people across all spaces combined. Its striking architectural design features 13 cultural design timber elements, each made from up to 150 timber pieces weighing between 7kg and 950kg and standing 7 to 17 metres tall.

The venue includes a main event space, pre-function areas, gallery and exhibition rooms, a lobby, commercial kitchen, green rooms, dressing rooms, extensive rigging infrastructure and a dedicated First Nations educational space. The iconic sandstone wall remains a centrepiece of the main event space.

Accessibility features include step-free access from Barangaroo Metro Station, public lifts from the basement carpark to the parkland above, and an adult Changing Place facility. Premium acoustics have been achieved through triple layer glass enclosures, enhancing natural light, reducing noise spill and delivering high quality sound for events. The venue operates entirely on electric power, supporting Barangaroo’s carbon neutral commitment.

The Cutaway will host a diverse calendar of events including Sydney Festival, the National Indigenous Art Fair, Blak Markets, NAIDOC events, corporate launches, exhibitions, festivals, theatre, fashion shows and more.
