26 Jul 2022

While delivering the events of today, ICC Sydney firmly keeps focus on the future and we remain committed to driving innovative event solutions that adapt to your event needs and that of the community we serve. As an organisation, we foster and encourage a culture that rewards this quest for excellence and constant improvement.

Recently, our team’s commitment to innovate, invest in training and collaborate with event organisers ensured ICC Sydney remains at the fore of audio visual technical delivery whether events are held in person, virtually or a hybrid of the two. Connect Hub, our one stop destination for digital event solutions, received the annual Innovation Award from the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) for best in class convention centre venue management services. Furthermore, two of ICC Sydney’s senior team members who were selected to represent ICC Sydney in the inaugural AIPC Future Shapers leadership program were recognised at the AIPC Congress for presenting a top new client portal platform innovation — addressing a common industry challenge.

Lasting, positive legacies can be achieved by incorporating innovation into your event programs. ICC Sydney’s Legacy Program stream Innovators & Entrepreneurs provides a practical avenue for organisers to connect attendees with Sydney’s brightest innovators and vibrant startup ecosystem at events.

Sydney is at the centre of Australia’s startup scene, supported by a dynamic community that includes ICC Sydney. This environment encompasses tertiary institutions such as the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), incubators and venture capitalists. The links between this growing and innovative community are a part of the city’s fabric that delegates value and seek. Australian Research Council (ARC) Laureate Professor Veena Sahajwalla is an internationally recognised materials scientist, engineer and inventor who is revolutionising recycling science. She is renowned for pioneering the high temperature transformation of waste in the production of a new generation of ‘green materials’ and is currently working with ICC Sydney to explore some of the long term industry waste challenges we face and further reducing waste from events and exhibitions to landfill.

Professor Sahawalla was named as the 2022 NSW Australian of the Year and we are extremely proud to call Professor Sahajwalla an ICC Sydney advocate as well as an Ambassador for Sydney through BE Sydney’s network of city champions.
