CEO Update – June 2022

20 Jun 2022

Sydney is open for business events. Here attendees are already being welcomed in resurging numbers by our experienced, passionate team, which we continue to grow, backed by a rejuvenated, energised city surrounding the premier convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct.

Working in collaboration with you our valued clients, ICC Sydney has greeted event attendees in numbers that are on par with pre-COVID visitation. To this end, we continue to focus on growing our team to meet record breaking attendance at events. Through direct and indirect visitor expenditure, the benefits of business events go beyond the positive impact on the venue team, as they reach into the local economy benefitting organisations up and down our long supply chain —continuing to build Sydney’s cultural, academic and intellectual capital.

The return of international business events last month, including the 20th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and the INDO PACIFIC International Maritime Exposition 2022 attracted large numbers of business events attendees into Sydney’s CBD. Events such as the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPcular, Snow Travel Expo, Autumn Home Show and Mind, Body Spirit Expo have all contributed to a strong uplift in visitation further reenergising Sydney’s CBD.

Recently, ICC Sydney relaunched our flagship magazine – Sydney InView. Through our communications we are committed to sharing highlights from the publication that reveal how ICC Sydney powers connections to the ancient heritage of Australia’s First Nations people, to local innovation and business hubs, to a range of community partners and to the natural environmental surroundings of the venue. This year, Sydney InView shares stories of arts and culture, food and wine, and leadership and innovation.
