Clean sweep at industry awards
ICC Sydney took home a shelf of trophies at the Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Awards for Excellence, including Best Corporate Citizen, Best Venue Team; Sibos 2018 and the Richard Geddes Young Achiever, which was awarded to Aiden Hippensteel. These rewards are reflective of our commitment and the support we provide clients through our Legacy Program to connect with the community, as well as our professional and talented team.

Commitment to First Nations recognised
We have always placed a strong importance on acknowledging, supporting and celebrating the culture of Australia’s First Nations people. Last month we were named the KARI Partner of the Year. KARI is an Aboriginal community support and preservation services, which we share a commitment with of developing a strong sense of community and cultural connectivity for our First Nations people. This important organisation assists us in supporting our First Nations employees and connecting clients to authentic cultural performances for their events. We were honoured to receive recognition from an incredible organisation that is truly making a difference.

Helping those in need
A number of our team members took time out to provide a little extra help to those in our community who need it most. We were proud to have hosted the first national IMPACKED event – an event which supports the charities Orange Sky and Every Little Bit Helps. Nearly 300 volunteers from across the city visited ICC Sydney for the day to support services who help those who are doing it tough. In the spirit of community support, we welcomed back to the venue for the third time the Variety Children’s Kids Party. Our Exhibition Halls came alive with over 4,000 children who were treated to a festive wonderland, from a Christmas jumping castle to a visit from Santa, we were delighted to have had our venue and team members support this important cause.

A future vision
As a major piece of infrastructure in the heart of Darling Harbour, it is vital our guests are surrounded by an exciting, dynamic and interesting precinct when they visit ICC Sydney. Last month we hosted the inaugural Committee for Sydney’s Western Harbour Precinct Summit, where key city leaders, including New South Wales Treasurer; Dominic Perrottet, New South Wales Minister for Planning and Public Spaces; Rob Stokes and the City of Sydney Lord Mayor; Clover Moore, provided their insights and future vision for the precinct. As members of the Western Harbour Alliance, we’re backing an innovative vision that will see the success of Darling Harbour and Barangaroo spread across the bay to create the nation’s most successful precinct.
