ICC Sydney welcomes ATE in 2017

ICC Sydney will hold Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism business-to-business event, the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), over five days in May 2017.

ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy said the team is thrilled to be welcoming the global tourism industry to the venue that is setting a new paradigm for the events industry in the Asia Pacific region.

“With its contemporary, flexible design, state-of-the-art technology, world class service and outstanding Sydney views, ICC Sydney is set to impress the 2,300 delegates from 30 countries arriving for ATE next year,” Mr Donaghy said.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres, saying his government was “delighted to be working with Tourism Australia on delivering a spectacular, world-class tourism event for NSW”.

He said ATE 2017 would generate significant economic benefits for the state, “while highlighting our iconic attractions, beautiful beaches, outstanding food and wine scene”.

Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan said while ATE has previously been held in Sydney international delegates attending next year’s event could expect to experience city that continues to be transformed by continued investment in new tourism infrastructure.

“The Australian Tourism Exchange is singularly the most significant business to business tourism trade event that Tourism Australia delivers each year,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

“With a range of new infrastructure coming online the timing of ATE couldn’t be better for shining the spotlight on the harbour city’s stunning new attributes and further cementing Sydney and Australia’s status as a world-class destination for leisure and business,” he said.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said ATE presents a great opportunity to bring the tourism industry together.

‘Our wonderful State never fails to impress and I am excited by the tourism opportunities that ATE 2017 will bring to Sydney and Regional NSW, cementing our position as one of the world’s most desirable tourism and business event destinations.’
