ICC Sydney Reveals its World Class Benchmarking data

Delivering on its launch objectives, International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) was impressing event organisers well before it officially opened 20 December 2016, according to data revealed today at Asia-Pacific Incentive & Meetings Expo (AIME).

Data collected during the intensive testing and commissioning phase of ICC Sydney revealed that every respondent positively reviewed the contemporary design and service excellence at Australia’s premier convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct, and confirmed that they would recommend the destination for future events.

Geoff Donaghy, CEO of ICC Sydney, said the results were driven by the integrated venue’s world class team, who achieved a 100 per cent approval rating across areas from event planning to hospitality and security.

“ICC Sydney is a new $1.5 billion events precinct that has been specifically designed to help create a paradigm shift in the way that events are delivered in Australia. Client feedback shows that alongside our stand-out facilities, it is our people that are making a true impact. Their dedication saw more than 500 event confirmed before we even opened, putting us well on our way to our goal of hosting 1,000 functions annually by 2019.

“I’m proud to say we have already received return bookings from corporate events held in our first six weeks of opening, and that we have a truly impressive events line up in 2017, including the upcoming Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Sibos, plus national exhibitions Cebit and Reed Gift Fairs.”

Joyce DiMasio, Chief Executive, Exhibition & Events Association of Australiasia (EEAA), also cited ICC Sydney’s staff as showing exemplary service, expertise and dedication during their four events held last year, prior to the venue’s stellar much welcomed December opening.

“ICC Sydney’s team was outstanding and acted with grace and professionalism from the start. The event planners’ attention did not diminish and they gave good advice. On the day, the floor coordinators were clearly in charge and communicated well to ensure everything progressed as planned. Based on our experience, I’d happily recommend ICC Sydney to any event organiser,” she said.

The venue’s audio visual and IT technology also amazed over 90 per cent of clients, including Alan Jones AO, 2GB radio presenter and Talent Development Project (TDP) Chairman.

“As the Chairman of this wonderful foundation, it was simply terrific to see both TDP students and graduates perform in this truly world class venue, which will play a hugely important role in future of entertainment for Sydney. It was a privilege to see some of our best talent take to Australia’s largest stage space on the day and hear their performances come to life thanks to the theatre’s phenomenal audio-visual technology.”

All of the organisers polled agreed that ICC Sydney’s food and beverage was excellent. This ranking is enhanced by the venue’s industry-first Feeding Your Performance food philosophy, which sees dishes created using NSW produce and designed specifically to boost concentration and energy levels.

TV personality and chef, Lindy Milan, was one of the 20,000 guests who attended the 50 test events and commented: “I am so impressed by ICC Sydney’s Feeding Your Performance philosophy and the approach to sourcing local, sustainable produce. According to Donaghy, the resoundingly positive feedback shows that ICC Sydney is poised to deliver on its potential to inject an estimated $5 billion into the NSW economy over the next 25 years and further position the city as one of the leading business events destinations in the world.
